Luis Leon Sanchez wins king stage at Tour Down Under

Tour Down Under final classification took shape today at the end of stage five, 148 kilometres between Snapper Point and Willunga, beginning with two 40 kilometres and ending with two 23 kilometres circuit climbing Old Willunga Hill Road.

The decision came at the second climb of Old Willunga Hill Road, when four riders broke away: two Spanish Caisse d'Épargne team mates, Alejandro Valverde and Luis Leon Sanchez, World champion Cadel Evans (BMC) and Slovenian Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Doimo).

The passed the top with a 30 seconds gap, and resisted to the wild chase of a 50-wheel pursuers group. Greipel's HTC-Columbia team mates did the maximum to close the gap, but they missed it by a few seconds.

Luis Leon Sanchez won at in Willunga ahead of Luke Roberts (Team Milram) and Alejandro Valverde. Andre Greipel, arrived nine seconds later, is now on the way to the final victory. He is now leading with eleven seconds on Leon Sanchez. Our team did quite well, placing Jürgen Roelandts in 19th and Matthew Lloyd in 50th position with the pursuers. Jürgen remains at the top of the general classification, he is eigth 26" down, and he keeps the young riders jersey.
